Hello lovely dolls! Luscious Potion recently sent over minis of her 1st Disney collection for me to review. These colors are Cutie Star, Elegant Lotus, Innocent Snow, Royal Beauty, and Simply Magical. Luscious Potion is very new to the indie nail polish community and this is actually her very first collection!
Cutie Star is a gold-like yellow pearly base with black dots, black star glitter and holographic pink butterflies. The formula was good. I am in love with this gold-like pearly base. That color with these black dots is a pretty combination. No undies were used. Two coats to full opacity. There were some glitter fishing for the star and butterfly glitter bits. However, the black little dots applied on the nail effortlessly without any glitter fishing.
Elegant Lotus is a pink pearly base with emerald green medium hexes, small royal blue hexes and red little hex glitters. Susan of Luscious Potion was inspired by Mulan when making Elegant Lotus. The formula was amazing! No undies were used. Two coats to full opacity. No glitter fishing or placement was needed. I love the color combination of the glitter in Elegant Lotus!
Innocent Snow is a clear base with yellow, red and blue squares, and frost white glitters. It is Snow White themed. I used Essie’s Avenue Maintain as the undie for this glitter topper. I absolutely love Innocent Snow! The formula was amazing and there were no glitter fishing/placement needed. This is 2 coats of Essie’s Avenue Maintain and 1 coat of Innocent Snow by Luscious Potion.
Royal Beauty is a clear base with teal mix of diamond and hex glitters and matte golden yellow hex glitters. It pays homage to Disney’s Aladdin. In pictures shown, I used two coats of Funky Fingers’ Riot (one of my favorite polishes ever!) and two coats of Royal Beauty. The formula is great and there were no glitter fishing. This is a beautiful one!
Simply Magical is a clear base with silver-blue and royal blue little glitter bits and blue star glitter. Cinderella would approve! I layered two coats of Simply Magical on top of one coat of Orly’s Liquid Vinyl. I wanted to use black undies because it would make the blue glitter pop out more. Formula was good. I did have to do mild glitter fishing only for the star ones.
All these beauties are 3-free (meaning no formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, and toluene). Let’s recap and discuss whether if I would recommend these polishes.
Cutie Star: I give this a 3 out of 5 stars rating. I would’ve given it a 4 star rating if there weren’t any star/butterfly glitter bits. Glitter fishing for these stars and butterflies was a bit frustrating. I did find that flipping over the bottle for few minutes really helped in unsettling these glitters. Despite this, I loved the golden like yellow pearly base! Perhaps Susan of Luscious Potion will consider making a similar pearly base with black dot glitter in the soon future? Speckled polishes are all the rage now. 🙂
Elegant Lotus: I give this 4 out of 5 stars! I would definitely recommend this one. There weren’t any issues with this polish. I enjoyed having this soft pearly pink base on my nails and loved how it gave off an iridescent feel to it. The glitters did add some flair to it. I loved it!
Innocent Snow: I give this beautiful polish 4.5 out of 5 stars! I recommend this one the most. I definitely want a full sized bottle of Innocent Snow. Application was perfect! Innocent Snow is one of these polishes where you can do so much with. Besides using different colors for the undie, you could also use Innocent Snow in a jelly sandwich mani. Now I think that would look so amazing! How about adding a matte topcoat to Innocent Snow? That would look amazing as well! Innocent Snow is my favorite from Luscious Potion’s 1st Disney collection.
Royal Beauty: I give this one 4 out of 5 stars. I do recommend it. It is a gorgeous glitter topper with the right color combinations. I imagine this would also do wonderful in a jelly sandwich mani or with some matte topcoat on top. No issues with this polish.
Simply Magical: I give this adorable polish 3.5 out of 5 stars. I probably would’ve liked to see different sized silver-blue glitter to make it a bit more interesting as a glitter topper.
I do think Susan of Luscious Potion has potential. I was even surprised that this is her first collection! I do look forward to see what creations she comes up with in the soon future.
