Nail Sauce’s Cloud 9

13 Feb

If you know me, I’m a sucker for glitter in milky white base type of polishes. When I received Nail Sauce’s Valentina collection to review, I instantly knew I would fall heads over heels for Cloud 9.

cloud9_3As you can see, it is in a milky white base with these yummy pastel glitter bits in various shapes and sizes. Cloud 9 is part of Nail Sauce’s Valentina collection. Application was awesome. Usually with these type of milky white bases, the biggest concern would be these annoying streak polish lines where white doesn’t look even in certain areas on the nail. I am so pleased that Cloud 9 did NOT have this problem! Opacity was achieved by the third coat. However, I decided to do four very thin coats of Cloud 9 to maximize the brightness of this color. I did not use any “undies” with this Cloud 9 manicure. Here’s another picture showing the bottle better.

cloud9_4 See all those little pretty pastel glitter bits? That’s what made me fall heads over heels in love with Cloud 9. Again, with these type of indie polishes, it is always for the best to do thin coats instead of thick ones. You want to benefit from layering glitters and this is done easily with thin coats. Paint it on thick and you won’t get this heavenly look. cloud9_1Having Cloud 9 on my nails brings me such joy. This isn’t just only good for Valentine’s but this is also perfect for upcoming spring. The pastel color combination makes it very soft and subtle and the milky white color does make it stand out. Here’s a close-up!

cloud9_2

Would I recommend it? Yes, I would. I give this 4 out of 5 stars. Application was ideal. You could use any white polish underneath to reduce the number of coats needed to make this polish opaque. It took me three coats to opacity. However in these pictures, they are all four coats. I did that because I wanted that extra layer of glitter. I do wish there was a little more glitter in Cloud 9. The finish of this polish was of a high-quality smooth glossy kind. All in all, I am very satisifed with Cloud 9.

Felicia of Nail Sauce was generous by sending me a second bottle of Cloud 9 for my wonderful readers! There is a giveaway starting right now for a brand new bottle of Nail Sauce’s Cloud 9. This will end on Friday February 15, 2013 at 12pm Eastern Standard Time. This is open to BOTH U.S. and international. A winner will be randomly chosen.

I think I would like this beautiful cloud 9 because of your glowing review. I have only 1 bottle of white polish and it’s a solid. This truly looks bright and fluffy with the choices of glitter mixed in. It looks beautiful on your nails and I think with whites that can be tricky.

I’d love Cloud 9 just because I am completely in love with milky bases square glitter and pastel colors! and I don’t have any Nail Sauce yet. πŸ™‚

Oh my sweet baby Jesus, I love pastel colors. I love that the white polish makes the pastel glitter stand out more. I would like to try something different, for some reason when I use glitter polish it’s hard to remove but I’m assuming there’s a way to make it easier. Once again…….gaahhhh PASTELS!!!!

    • justricarda February 13, 2013 at 11:44 pm #

Glitter polish can be difficult to remove at times. I would love to tell you about a wonderful trick you can do to help with easy removal! Take a cotton ball, soak it in some nail polish remover. Leave it on top of your nails and you can wrap your finger up in some foil squares (yes the same foil you use in the kitchen for food) to hold the soaked cotton ball in place on top of your nails. So it doesn’t slide off. Leave there for 3-5 minutes. Take foil and cotton ball off. It comes off like magic. I also prefer using nail soakers instead of foil. You can find them on amazon. Just type in “nail soakers”. I use these to hold the soaked cotton balls in place.

I have heard of the foil method, but was scheptical, but I will have to try it. I will like not taking ten minutes to take off glitter polish lol and they are just so pretty its hard not to want to put them on. But I’m going to try this out thanks πŸ™‚

I would love to win Cloud 9 because I don’t own any Nail Sauce polishes and whats better than owning this beauty & I absolutely support Indie makers. I’m new to the nail community of IG & have heard rave reviews of Felicia’s polishes…

  5. Candice Croix February 14, 2013 at 12:02 am #

I already like Cloud 9 because I’m also a sucker for glitter polishes in white bases. I love that the white base makes it more subtle and elegant while the glitter makes it just plain fun! Thanks to both of you for the chance to win this! :o)

  6. Jillian Talamantez February 14, 2013 at 12:02 am #

I think I will love Cloud 9 because I just adore all the polishes Felicia makes. I currently don’t own any (or any indie polishes at that) of her polishes and I know Cloud 9 would be a wonderful first polish from the indie world! As for the polish, I just love Cloud 9 overall. I love that it is a white base (the color is a perfect white and the opacity seems to be great {most white based polishes that I’ve heard of are hard to get great opacity in only a few thin coats}) and that the glitters are pastel. I don’t own any white polishes or any pastel colors so this would be a great combination of the both to own as a first. The polish is just overall beautiful and thank you to the both of you for holding this giveaway – so thoughtful πŸ™‚

  9. Nathalie Yap February 14, 2013 at 12:22 am #

I think I will love Cloud 9 because I don’t own any Indie polishes and that it’s a white milky base with PASTEL glitters! I’m obsessed with pastel! It’s rare and unique with the pastel glitters in it! And I would love to give it a try! =)

  12. Christy Marie February 14, 2013 at 2:31 am #

I think I would like this because seriously, what’s not to like ? The pastel glitter is like a little hidden treasure in the milky, pretty, feminine base. It’s fun, yet doesn’t overpower your look.

  13. Xiu Hui February 14, 2013 at 4:09 am #

I would love cloud 9 because I adore milky white base polishes AS WELL AS pastel colours so this bottle of polish is the perfect polish that would leave me in cloud nine! haha Also, I’ve just been introduced to the world of indie polishes through IG and it would be great to collect more indie polishes, especially that of nailsauce which is always snapped up quickly and I haven’t own any yet. Cloud 9 would be nice for a first bottle of nailsauce(: Lastly, thank you for hosting this giveaway! πŸ˜€

  19. loveisqi February 14, 2013 at 9:30 am #

I know I will love Nail Sauce’s Cloud 9 because like you, I also love milky white bases with colored glitter in them but I don’t have any! The pastel colors in particular are gorgeous in this and it would be the perfect color for me to wear on my birthday, which is 8 days after the 1st day of spring and 2 days before Easter! πŸ˜‰ thanks!

  29. scherzingirl February 14, 2013 at 10:51 am #

I love this nail polish! I’m such a fan of indie polishes and milky bases with glitter… It’s so beautiful and soft!!!

  31. Syndie Matos February 14, 2013 at 11:19 am #

Who wouldn’t want such a gorgeous polish! It’s beautiful with the pastel glitters, perfect for spring. I saw your post on IG and went to buy it right away but the fact that it’s sold out makes me want it even more. I hope I’m lucky enough to win!!!

  32. Claudia Cedillo February 14, 2013 at 11:33 am #

Hi! I would absolutely love to have this polish because of its color, the glitter and specially because I had never been in contact with an indie polish. I didn’t even know they existed until I started following you. Sometimes we read in magazines about $20-$30 polishes and we go and buy them just because they have “a name” like Givenchy, Chanel, MAC, etc. and while they may be high in quality (we suppose), we may end up having what anyone else has. Indie polish however makes you special because you know that only a few lucky women has one of them. I like having what nobody else has and if I can brag about how I search for the most special polish around a nail community in IG, how cool does that make me??? Totally cool!! And it’s a great way to help and encourage indie polish creators. We need mor creators in the world, stop buying bug names, expensive labels; indie polish can be better, more fashionable and more exclusive than any big brand out there. I hope I can win this and start spreading the word here in Mexico. Thank you Ricarda!!

I am absolutely and entirely obsessed with nailpolish! I feel like I am learning new things about nail care and beauty all the time from Instagram and blogs like yours. I always see these “Indie” polishes in pictures but I do not own any! I always kept an eye out when I was at the store for colors like these and could never find any!! Now I finally know more about these kinds of nailpolish. I find this whole idea of Indie nailpolishes absolutely fascinating. I feel like there is still so much I don’t know about nails and polishes. I would absolutely adore this bottle of nailpolish; that’s a promise.I would also love any kind of advice on finding discounted nailpolishes just like this. I don’t have a lot of money to invest so any advice is greatly appreciated and will not go to waste! It is such a great feeling when someone sees my nails and loves my work because of the advice and knowledge I am getting from nail experts like you!

Welcome to the wonderful world of indie polishes! I will be honest here. There are some amazing indies and not so amazing indies. Indie polishes are unfortunately not created equally. Be sure to look at swatches, read reviews, and ask people before buying them! To save money on indies, I would recommend the following:

      1. Follow the indie polish makers themselves! Often they will post information on upcoming sales and sometimes they will post coupon codes that you can use at checkout! I buy indie polishes whenever there’s a sale.

      2. Scour thru various blog sales. There’s so many out there. Be sure to use a reputable and a trusted blog. You want to make sure you won’t get ripped off. I have found some great finds via this method in the past.

      3. If you’re on a budget and cannot wait for a sale, I suggest looking at mini sizes. Not all indie polish makers offer their polishes in mini sizes but some of them do and they’re reasonably priced!

Good luck! I hope you found this reply very helpful! πŸ™‚

  34. Juliann B February 14, 2013 at 2:33 pm #

Reminds me of Pox, Gangrene and Hematoma from Wicked Polish!!! Except all the colors are in one bottle. Since I wasn’t able to get any of those in the restock, I would love to win this one. From your review, it should be perfect!!!

    • justricarda February 14, 2013 at 3:00 pm #

As someone who has the entire Pestilence collection by Wicked Polish, I can tell you that the glitter is different. Pox, Gangrene and Hematoma glitters are more on the neon side and they’re much larger. They’re also translucent (almost transparent). With Nail Sauce’s Cloud 9, the glitters are smaller and on the pastel side as opposed to the neon ones by Wicked Polish. The glitter in Cloud 9 seem almost matte. I hope you find this helpful! You’d love Cloud 9!!

  35. kMarie_me February 14, 2013 at 4:49 pm #

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like Cloud 9, I’d LOVE it! Over the past few years, my personality has shifted from being obsessed with hlitter and super bright colors to instead leaning more and more towards softer colors and pastels. I’m still insane over glitter, but the glitter in Cloud 9 is so different and sweet- and perfect for spring! It reminds me of the malted milk balls that come out around Easter with the pastel splatter dots on them- which is a plus, because who WOULDN’T want to be reminded of yummy candy everytime they see their fingernails? ❀

  36. For Your Nails Only February 14, 2013 at 8:57 pm #

I like cloud 9 because of the pastel sparkles and dreamy finish. This is super cute polish for the spring πŸ™‚

  37. Zeena Aldrete February 14, 2013 at 11:32 pm #

I have been searching for an awesome polish that looks like it has sprinkles in it. I saw Nails Inc sprinkles…it looks ok…but I wanted more pastel colored sprinkles. Cloud 9 looks perfect!!

  38. Tara Maclin February 15, 2013 at 1:05 am #

I absolutely love white base indie polishes. I have dark skin and I have found that the milky base polishes look really pretty on me. I would have to agree the pastel glitters are a nice bonus. I figured with me wanting spring to come quickly, I am starting to be interested in softer colors and these pastel glitters are to “live” for πŸ™‚
